by Long T. on This place is apparently an Atlanta institution... being from out-of-town, this was one of the few places I had heard about before coming to the ATL... while it wasn't exactly the best culinary experience... I was glad I came just so that I could say I've been to the Varsity. The slaw dogs were interesting and unique... at least until I saw the slaw dog on the menu at Nathan's Famous at the airport on the way out of town... If it weren't so darn famous, I would actually only give it 2 stars...
by Cole Janisch on The Modern Jazz Quartet (MJQ). I'm old school. The reality is, if you have been lucky enough to hit this joint, you've no doubt done yourself a favor. This place is really different. Even people who aren't into dance clubs would have a nice time here. It's so cool, that even if you're a straight up nerd, you'll find yourself dancing at some point during the course of the night at this spot. You'd be an odd character to deny that this really is quite a magical place. In that they continue to endure after all these years is testimony to the fact there is an energy there that absolutely works. It's got everybody...weirdos, freaks, leather-clads, straight heads, divas, break dancers, intellectuals, the famous, infamous, the not so famous, and everything inbetween. If you haven't been...go. Simple as that.
