Wow, after reading the reviews here I really thought this was going to be great but was disappointed. Not that there are not good points. the price, vibe, and margi's were good. It's totally low profile with red check table cloths and a cheesy decor. If that's what you're looking for this is a great place. Verrry casual. However I thought the food was not great. Not flavorful at all, just really blah. Maybe that's how Salvadorian food is, I don't know, but I was seriously craving a bottle to Tapatio to give it some flavor. Had a pork pupusa and a chicken/cheese one. both really bland and heavy. The Pan con Gallina (chicken sandwich) was huge, but just chicken with gravy and veggies that tasted like it was from a family "home cooking' kind of place. The shrimp cocktail was huge and had large shrimp, but again was bland. I was bummed. The margi's were okay- tamarind was a new flavor to me. Not potent like someone else said, but okay. I was REALLY disappointed by the belly dancing. It's not from the restaurant but seems to be a reason people go there. The ladies were really nice and really wanted to put on a good show, but of the 6 only one seemed slightly middle eastern. They seemed to all be just learning and frankly just weren't alluring and sultry like I expected. Someone in the group said it was like going to "open belly dancing" night. On top of that it's $10PP, regardless of if you have dinner or not.

I could not remember the name of this place, so I was looking all over rateclubs for a picture of some bar with a that had an entrance similar to the one Batman goes through to get to the bat-cave, but with a hint of redneck aluminum siding and intimidating 7 foot tall overweight bouncers standing out front. I remember walking up to the place and thinking that my friends were dragging me to some underground illegal drug haven when we approached the entrance, but after walking down the stairs into the bar and lounge area I realized what kind of bar I had arrived at. I believe the theme behind MJQ is to make the place look like the room of an artist who still lives with his parents in their basement, so he makes the best of it and decorates the place with different colored rooms that have varying themes. Throw up a few pictures of some of the celebrities that have hung out at the place to make your friends think you are the cat's meow, and wa-lah, you have MJQ. The place is not all that bad though. They did have a pretty decent music selection playing a majority of the night. They also have an old school Nintendo for drunken gamers to enjoy located next to the television that is usually playing an old and weird kung-fu movie. The crowd at MJQ on the particular night that I stopped by was pretty cool. Not many people really seemed to be dancing to the music, but I prefer for it to be that way because that means there will be less of a chance that I get dragged on the dance floor. It is not that I hate dancing, it is just that I am so good as soon as everyone notices my diamond studded gloved finger snapping to the beat of my wild twirling feet, they will instantly become insecure with how mediocre their dance moves are compared to mine.
