BEST. i like the boob/nipple cup. i like that all of the cups are different. i like the way the waiter greeted us and told us his name and carman's name as soon as we got in the door. i like the whole (DIY-type) atmosphere, and the unusually tasty selections on the menu. i grew up in philadelphia, but have since moved. this is one place i aim to dine at, whenever i go back to philadelphia for a visit. the place is a tad bit pricey, but this is one case where it's DEFINITELY worth it. who has leftover BREAKFAST? you do, when you go to carman's country kitchen. be warned: this place closes early and their lines are LONNNG.

We visited East Side Showroom for some drinks and a snack the other day, and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere - rather diverse actually. Hipsters. An older couple or two. Girls dressed like they were in the 50's. Tattoos galore. We loved it. Great people watching. Live music was great and fun (Hawaiian type music...fun and entertaining!) Great ambiance (a little dark - lots of candles). The food - we only had the cheese plate since we'd eaten dinner already, but it was really tasty. I appreciate the fact that they try to source locally, and the cheese showcased that. A homemade feta, and two other local cheese that I didn't catch the name on (it was loud in there) + some really tasty bread and some jam/chutney and fruit. It hit the spot! The drinks - Amazing. We had so much fun sitting at the bar watching them mix up drinks all night. Tried a few of the specialty cocktails and really enjoyed them. Yes, they are pricey, but they definitely are not the kind of drink you have one after the other (switched to beer) so I didn't mind the price. Can't wait to go back and try some others. The service - I know other rateclubsers have complained about spotty service, but I felt like they took great care of us at the bar. Checked back many times to see how we were doing. Kept bringing us water, checking on how we were doing and if we needed anything. I think they did a great job (esp since it was CRAZY busy back there making drinks!) We had a great time - and look forward to going back!

A gem of an ol' school supper club, without the supper. Instead of full-course prime rib dinners, they've slimmed their menu down to 4 items: 1) 'hot dog' disguised as a gourmet chicken apple sausage on a 'baguette' (a.k.a. bun), comes with fries, $9 2) pizza margherita; pepperoni extra $ 3) rigatoni al pomodoro (a.k.a. pasta with tomato sauce) 4) patate frite (a.k.a. fries) A sign of the times. Gotta make a buck somewhere right? Despite the lackluster menu, the fries were well done - crisp, lightly salted and they hit the spot. Other info: *2 drink minimum - try a Cadillac Margarita (margarita with Grand Marnier) *Cash only - ATM in the lobby. *There's an attendant on duty in the bathroom - adds to the retro ambiance. I love the detailing in the fixtures of yesteryear. They sure don't make them like they used to. *Get on their mailing list to get advance tix. info - seeing Robin Williams working on new material was a real treat.
