by Rolland Likes on Came here based on a friend's recommendation, not knowing what to expect. Found out it was Bootie Night. If you don't know what that is, they're a group that does a lot of dance mash-ups ( http://bootiemashup.co...). The music was alright, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves plenty after knocking back some drinks. Casual dress is fine here. Cover charge was $12. Drinks are a little pricey, but they're ridiculously strong. Each AMF is $10. Sex on the Beach is $8. The AMFs are pure alcohol haha. But worth your money, I guess! The people who worked that night were great. Bartenders were nice. And the security guys might ask you to walk outside for a while if they think you're too drunk, but they're friendly and reasonable about it. And you can easily get back in once you're a little less drunk. Because it was rainy season, they even set up a tent outside for you to stand under haha. We all enjoyed our time here, but not sure if I'm quite a fan because of the prices and the music.
by Palmer Anzures on If you're Korean, you know this is one of the go to places in NYC Ktown. Their Thursday night Happy Hours get packed, and on any other night it's at least a moderately full place to enjoy time with friends. It's a cafe atmosphere with your full service Korean bar.
by K B. on I've visited both the upstairs fine-dining and downstairs cafe portion of Parish a number of times over the past year or so. After a particularly "meh" experience at the upstairs restaurant (short version: our food was cold and the quality of the ingredients was awful - "tasso" ham no better than your typical trip to the Kroger deli, for example), I never went back, but (because it's convenient) began coming to the downstairs coffee shop pretty regularly. The coffee is good. The atmosphere is excellent. The counter-ordered breakfast is good. But the service is...well...I'd peg it between "dismissive" and "derisive", depending on the day. My particular beef is with the woman who generally mans the coffee station on the weekends - many of the other servers I've seen flitting about have been more than pleasant, on the whole. So, it's isolated, but absolutely worth mentioning. I can't conjecture about the coffee woman's state of mind, but outwardly, she's angry about something. Short. Curt. No matter how pleasant the customers are (or how long or short the line), she's angry. No matter if you're confused about where the dine-in coffee mugs might be (they're on the top of the coffee machine, just to save you her derision), she couldn't seem to care less. The final straw for me was watching her take my vegetarian friend's order at the back counter for a biscuit and egg and then charge her the full price of a biscuit, egg, cheese and bacon sandwich. My friend was too cowed by the woman's glare to say anything, but...seriously? Even "I'm sorry, we don't do a'la carte and I"m going to have to charge you the full price" as an explanation would have been so welcome. Instead, the dark cloud gathered and grew. Anyway, I think we're done with Parish now. I've given them ample opportunity. I wish them luck.
