The door may be tougher than Fort Knox but it's like the Garden of Eden inside. Provocateur knows who their key client is and definitely caters to women. It is comprised of two distinct nightlife settings: nightclub and lounge. The former makes maximal use of the outdoor garden space with a retractable glass roof. Inside there are photos murals depicting rooms from a dollhouse, stripper poles, and a luminescent pair of angel wings juxtaposed behind a black catwalk which is perfect for a "Zoolander" style walk-off. They have also consulted with some famous skincare guru for their cocktail menu. Each drink contains vitamins, niacin, and other detoxifying ingredients so you can drink for your beauty. Probably one of the top 5 clubs at the moment. It's about time that the Gansevoort Hotel did something right!

Pretty large space since it really is two places combined into one-- not sure which is which, but one side of this place had more of a club feel to it, while the other side had an outdoor patio and was a bit more dive bar ish. Overall, not too bad-- grey goose tonic is $9 bucks, and the well drinks are probably around $5 or $6 bucks. The wack thing about this place is the fact that they kicked out my roommate for doing nothing-- when some idiot split some drink on him. Anyways, might be back at this place again, but I will check out the rest of midtown. 3.5 stars overall.

cielo is my nest, my sanctuary, my place of unending joy and magic. here is my confession: i am an audiophile. i am a lover of disco and house. my heart holds deep bitterness for Steve Dahl and his 1979 demolition. disco birthed house and HOUSE LIVES. its glory and splendor can be seen at cielo. i saw francois k at deep space on monday, but would teleport if i could any day of the week. the crowd was part neo-soul, part retired raver with a splash of the modelesque and hipster. really tho, most people didnt really freakin care because they were too busy dancing their soles (souls) out. the dancefloor is recessed, and separates the space nicely. the walls are lined with soft fabrics in a 70's pattern that looks almost like a sofa. this place is a bit hard to find upon first visit. its in the meat-packing district and doesnt have a sign, but its elite with out being exclusive. in every aspect the caliber is superb.
