I finally stopped in last week to try Bobby's in hopes of finding the Phila version of Mr. Bartley's. Alas, I will be continuing on my quest. The Dallas burger were merely okay and there was nothing spectacular about the bbq sauce. It was good, just not amazing. I did enjoy the sweet potato fries, which were nice and crispy and a change from the standard. The honey mustard dipping sauce went quite well with them; it had just the hint of horseradish which gave it a nice twist and made it stand out from the bottled Ken's. I sampled both the black and white milkshake and the spiked mocha Kahlua vodka. The spiked milkshake was excellent and definitely one of a kind. While the black and white was pretty good, it wasn't the best that I have had (again, Mr. Bartley's frappes). Overall, this is a decent place and I will stop by in the future for the spiked shakes, in addition to giving the burgers another shot since I have been wanting to try their turkey burgers.

Checked out this place during restaurant week since I had a craving for some prime rib. The atmosphere is pretty nice in here with the piano player and business casual dress code. The service was extremely slow and although it was busy during dinnertime, they had plenty of extra staff just standing around to fill your water or take away your used plates. The thing is, that's all those extra people do. The meal time still depends on your table waiter for orders and food. I've been to classy places with a relaxed dining atmosphere, but this pace was like the turtles advertising for DSL. The food itself was nothing spectactular. The featured prime rib dish was just about the same as you can get at any other steakhouse, but more expensive. For your dessert choices with the restaurant week package, they had key lime pie, creme brulee, and chocolate mousse. All three of them must've been packed with an extraordinary amount of sugar. I have a sweet tooth, but this was ridiculous. Bottom line: Way too expensive for what you get. Tons of other choices in the Philly area to waste your time and money here.

Oh man, the poetry here rocked! Usually I'm not into the scene (most poetry places just don't do it for me) but this place was great. I really felt laid back, and the poets seemed to be really involved with the crowd, reacting to laughs and cheers, communicating, having a good time. Definitely a NYC landmark worth visiting. Pizza joint down the street makes it a trip.
