I went to a bachelorette party last night at Shout. While driving there, I couldn't get Tears for Fears' "Shout" out of my head. I still can't... For fear of receiving a bogus parking ticket from Park Atlanta, I spent $10 on the restaurant's valet--well there went half my drink money. (Let me point out that it took about 15 minutes for them to retrieve my vehicle after dinner; other valet patrons noted the steep price and slowness.) The table of nine girls split two calamari appetizers. The heaping seafood tasted like popcorn shrimp, spiced up with marinara dipping sauce. Someone else requested a plate of pita and hummus, but I didn't try it. A lot of us ordered the California Combo: one California roll and one chef's choice roll. For only $15, it looked like the best deal on the menu. The chef provided a spread of nigiri, including tuna and shrimp and other unrecognizable but delicious fish. It could've been fresher, but I still attacked it with my chopsticks. For dessert, the party hostess brought a lemon curd cake, which the kitchen cut and served on plates. We all were surprised by the $2 per person "cake fee" that ended up on the bill. Our waiter was so adorable: bouncy, pleasant and full of energy. His service gave me something to shout (and even twist) about.

Maybe I'm just not getting this place like everyone else. Had a celebratory dinner here and I was expecting greatness after a long day of exams.  Menu selection was limited and what really did it for me was my uncooked blood-oozing chicken entrée. Inquired about it to our waitress, and she went on a 2 minute lecture how they grow their own chickens and organic chickens have bigger veins, and that it's perfectly safe to eat. Ummm, no thank you. I'll pass on the Salmonella and Campylobacter.

Awesome place to go out with a big group. Sweet little DJ/dance floor combo every night. But the food is sub par for the expectation of healthy and delicious Asian food. Of course the scorpion bowls are fun and probably the best value for booze in the house. If you have a birthday coming up plan it here...the first time is definitely the best!
