by Fred B. on As I have said before, icons are icons for a reason, and The Varsity is one for several reasons - the hot dog (good, not great - weak chili); the Frosted Orange (it's a Frost Orange, for God's Sake); the Onion Rings (if only for the grease); but primarily for THE EXPERIENCE - and the experience is at the original location. This is a funky piece of culinary history which a person can still visit, and experience personally. It serves Southern chili dogs, the wiener is not in a casing, natural or otherwise. If you don't like the classic chili dog, you probably don't want to come here. People who go to iconic restaurants, and then complain because the food they were served was exactly what the restaurant was famous for, are more than a little silly. Remember: Study up, order up, eat up. The have burgers, a couple of other sandwich choices, salads, fries, sweet tea & sodas, but the hot dog, onion rings, and Orange Frosty should be the order. I have had better dogs, better onion rings, and I'd really rather have a Pepsi with a hot dog, but this is The Varsity, and that is my order.
by Winona Tobiasz on Simply wonderful!!! Went here for my first time on my birthday last night and I am in love not only with the energy of the audience but the poets that spoke their mind!!! I will most def be back again and cannot wait!!!
by Melissa Moscoffian on I coordinated a party for the organization I work for at Terra this past Saturday. This was the first time I had ever coordinated and produced an event this big (over 650 in attendance) and there is no way that I would've been able to accomplish this without Dusty and Stephanie - Terra's Owner and Event Coordinator. Yes - it's true, the space is amazing. The layout of the venue accommodated both a private reception for 150 people from 8-10pm and then a huge party (650+) from 10pm - 2am. The space is classy, simple (in a good way), and multi-purpose - which is exactly what you want with an event space. But honestly, what made my event SO successful, was the professionalism, patience, and creative problem solving exhibited by Dusty and Stephanie. They really helped me make this event come together seamlessly. If you ever have to coordinate, host, or produce an event - be it large or small, I HIGHLY recommend Terra.
