5/20 - I never tried other Michael Mina restaurants before but I am quite satisfied. You can order the pre-fix menu (8 course starting at $59) or ala carte. I opted for ala carte. I had the scallop with tempura crumb appetizer which was cooked perfectly. My entree was fillet mignon with short ribs tortelini, brusel sprouts/root vegetables, and crispy bone marrow. The fillet was cooked to my request, medium, and seasoned well. The short ribs tortelini side dish was tender and tasty. The vegetable sides and the crispy bone marrow was disappointing. The root vegetables were undercooked and bitter. The bone marrow was too fatty. I love bone marrow and would normally order it anytime it is on a menu. The normal preparation would be roasted or boiled, which melts the fat a little. Deep frying makes it very greasy. The dessert was fun (butterscotch pudding and compressed strawberry). The strawberry have so many components in it - very molecular gastronomic. Appetizer prices are in the $20 range, entree prices are $30 - $50, and dessert is about $15. So if you plan to order apptz, entree, and dessert, then the 8 course prefix for $59 per person might be better. Other pluses are the gorgeous design and the beatiful people eating there.

Went with some family members several years ago for lunch on Black Friday. Had no idea what to expect. Minutes after being seated , we see Morimoto himself stopping by the tables. Had no idea who he was so I was looking perplexed at my bros. They were pretty excited though. Something about the iron chef. Had no clue who or what that was either so I just nodded my head in agreement. Really cool guy, very personable and we also took some pics with him. I've been back at least 7 times since then for lunch and dinner. The food has always been top notch and the service impeccable. My favorites are the Rock Shrimp Tempura and the Tuna Pizza, though I've sampled the scallops and crab and have been very satisfied. Also sampled the omakase (chef's choice) which was very appetizing though I can't develop a taste for eel and sea urchin. Can't do foie gras either. For dessert, the Wasabi Tiramisu was definitely impressive. Somewhat pricey dishes, but hey, you have to indulge in fine luxuries every once in a while. Nice decor too.
