This is the best (and only) place to eat in the Metreon if you're looking for a good meal with more-than-casual dining. It's a class above some of the other restaurants on the first floor. However, while the food has been great (or excellent), the service is absolutely horrendous. If you're going with a ton of people and just want to have fun and don't care about delays or rude waitstaff, then fine. But if you're going to have a very nice dinner, and to be served, don't expect that here. I've been here a few times, and every time it's been a mix of mess-ups. Most recently, the server brought us our entrees no later than 2 minutes after the appetizer. We had just literally started to enjoy it when the table became cluttered with the main course. Not cool. Over the course of an hour, we were asked once if everything was okay and never after that offered so much as a refill on our waters. When it came time to pay, we had waited about 20 minutes to get someone's attention. We had a movie to catch, and were thus in a hurry. When I told the waitress to please step it up, she gave us a very rude look and said "she'd do what she could" in a snobby tone. That all being said, their cheesy chorizo chip dip is to die for.

We've been going to Yoshi's in Oakland forever, and were excited about the SF Venue, but were bitterly disappointed. So far, we have been to 13 shows at the SF venue, and had the same issue every single time: the people attending the shows are uncultured idiots who should be at a bar in Santa Rosa, not a jazz club in Yoshis. If you don't like jazz and don't know anything about music, DON'T GO TO THE SHOW AND TALK. It ruins it for those of us that are there to actually enjoy the music. I know it's exciting to have a new venue in town, but it's not a pickup spot or a place to catch up with friends - it's a JAZZ CLUB. The chatting and the cell phone stuff can be done outside in the restaurant, or better yet some yuppie bar in the marina. If you want to come to Yoshi's, turn off your phone, choose a date that's not a chatty cathy, and shut up. The music here is not meant to be background music, it's meant to be the main focus. I would have expected better behavior of my fellow San Franciscans. What a disappointment, Oakland has a much more cultured and mature audience. The seats are comfier in SF though. One star for that. The other one is for the excellent performers.

yum. heheh, well, to expand a little bit, I went to this famous joint this week while I was out here in Atlanta for a Show. I'd heard about it either on The Hotdog Show (PBS) or FoodTV. They're famous for quick ordering and no-fuss service. The famous line is "Whattaya have, whattaya have?" What'd I get? I'm a bit embarrassed by the amount of bad food, but... if you must know.... I had Chili Cheese Fries (unpeeled cut taters with the usual), a Slaw Dog (cole slaw and a dog), and a Frosted Orange drink (a drinkable orange creamsicle). To my surprise, after finishing the fries and dog, I wasn't very satisfied, so I went back for seconds and got their Chili Cheese Slaw Dog. That hit the spot just fine... You're probably a bit surprised by the amount of food I ate. Really, it wasn't that much food. The dogs are pretty small compared to the costco types. My quick review? Okay, here goes: Price, AWESOME. Few things are more than two bucks. You can't beat that. However, the portions are not terribly great. I was pretty surprised how small the dogs were. Taste, they were good. I think the thrill and the novelty of it really was what did it for me. It was a whole lotta bad food. Yeah, I'd go back... if I ever come back to Atlanta, that is....
