I went to the Mayan for the Minus the Bear concert. It was awesome! I'd never been to this theatre before but just fell in love with the Mayan theme, I felt like I was playing/ in the land of Legend of the Hidden Temple. As you go upstairs, there's a sweet balcony area where you can sit on steps to watch the show or go up a story to the very top where there is a bar and some bar stool seating. We sat up there for a bit and had the best view and sound in the house. The only thing was that since it was so high, it was pretty warm. A group called Young the Giant opened for MTB and they freaking rocked. The lead singer dances with maracas and a tambourine, sometimes at the same time. It was an amazing show and the sound was really good. I thought it was cool that youngsters could go to the show and weren't allowed to go into the "adult" bar areas. Something I didn't understand was the extremely high security. You had to show your ID every time you came up from the "pit" area, couldn't there have been a stamp? That on top of a metal detector, flash light purse check (even peeped into the little cavities!) and a pat down for the men. Beware if you have stuff to hide! Oh ya, all bars are cash only and expensive so come prepared!

The entrance is impressive and is quite deceiving, you think you are being escorted to some vintage club with chic service, but the bouncer is just there to check IDs and the elevator smells most acrid. I went to Bowlmor in a group of four people just before New Year's and the best thing about the bowling alley was the waitresses were dressed up in Mrs. Santa Claus dresses. Otherwise, the atmosphere was lame, videos from the early 90s were on the screens(i had a few flashbacks), but strange music from the 80s played from speakers. The food was not too over-priced, but the actual bowling was- We were in a group of four people; I misunderstood that it was $13 per person, per game. So instead of playing as two teams, we played as four players. FIFTY-TWO DOLLARS FOR A GAME OF BOWLING?!!?!?! I have never wanted to scream profanities in a bowling alley, but that was pushing me to the limit. Including the food and shoes, our bowling bill was over $100. Not too cool. Bowling is supposed to be an affordable activity!! I refuse to waste my money here! Never again!!!
