by Brett M. on Zahav may just be my favorite restaurant in the city. The service is excellent, and the food is beyond outstanding. Every dish seems to be executed perfectly (don't miss the Crispy Haloumi, the Persimmon salad, or the Sabra), and every server we've had has been unbelievably knowledgeable about the dishes. On a recent visit, one of the members of our party had celiac disease, and our server did a fantastic job guiding us through the many gluten-free options for him. The three of us went with the ta'yim menu, and when the bill came, we were so surprised at how reasonable it was. I can't wait to get back!
by Scott R. on If it was just that this bar had nice indoor/outdoor space with happy hour specials, it might be worth checking out. But that they have solid pizza that's 1/2 off from 5-7PM ($9.50 vs. $19 for large pie that serves 2), well that makes it definitely worth checking out. The pizza isn't quite at the level of a House Pizzeria or a Salvation Pizza but it's way better than Gatti's or the national chains. It's thin crust. The Margherita pizza shies away from sauce in favor of tomato slices. It works fine but I still found myself missing sauce. The Roasted Chicken pizza - with both goat cheese and mozzarella - was good as well. Will be coming back...
by Ismael Wenzel on If you remove all the people, replace them with normal/fun folks, keep the music and the folks "ghost riding the whip" down Folsom, Icon would have...perhaps 2 more stars. I'm serious about the less than OK crowd and the ghost riding the whipping right in front of the club. (Please correct me if I'm using that term incorrectly!) I mean, I don't care that much about who's at a club (unless I'm trying to meet someone). It's more about the folks you're with, the music and drinks. That said, I'd go to Icon again if for SOME reason, folks wanted to go...but I will say, that I will never be rounding the troops for a night there. Luna Lounge - RIP
