by Kathy V. on I'm a fan of Nick's Tacos!! For those who can remember this spot used to be the old Johnny Love's back in the day. Now it's is a Taco restaurant that turns into a club after 10p. After hours the club spot is called Rouge. The place has an old shabby sheik kind of feel. I think it's because the booths are lined with maroon velvet and they have old school chandeliers hanging. Back to the food: Yes cheap and ooohhh good! I always order the Camarones tacos and chips & salsa. They even have Happy hour every day from 5-9pm and on Sunday all day? I remember a glass of wine was $2.00, now where in SF can you get that? They pretty much have everything @ Nick's tacos. As for the nightlife @ Rouge, I guess it depends who is the promoter that holds the party. One time I went and I was not feeling the music or crowd. The alcoholic drinks become regular priced at $9.00. The location sucks, because parking is hard to find and it's not close to downtown.

by Kathrin Bronchetti on The entrance is cool and even more importantly - it's PROMISING, but once you get inside, Slide looks like a pimped out diner! The booths are weird, again made me think of DINERS, which is BAD BAD BAD for a club. The dance floor is small and narrow and pushed right against the bar. While the music was fun and great to dance to, the crowd was too self-conscious [not to be mistaken with 'self-aware'] to really dance. The drinks were alright, but the interior KILLED it for me! It could have been SO MUCH better! By club standards [especially if you take NY clubs], the space is HUGE, and painfully mismanaged! It could have been SO COOL! It's not bad, I will give it that... but it's the near misses that make me sad for days. Three stars for overall quality, but I won't be back.
