The Macallan Scotch tasting was held here - really, just a beautiful and well laid out space.  The decor was simple but beautiful, and classy.  I could see how this would make a wonderful wedding or large party venue.  (Maybe even a rateclub party?) Though I was pretty impressed, I didn't give it 5 stars because downstairs, only 1 ladies' washroom - one of those single room deals.  Really?  For a venue that large??  Maybe there were more upstairs, but the way it was set up, you had to walk behind the stage to get there while stuff was happening on stage.  Awkward... Also, parking is ok around there, but not great.  It's also oddly and slightly awkwardly right by the highway on ramp, so you have to be really careful when you're approaching as to avoid being the next life-sized hood ornament. Overall, these 2 things aren't enough to deter me from coming back, or even hosting a large event here in the future.  (It'd be a good excuse to hire a party bus or party limo to drop everyone off...)

The former Apple Lounge by Alison Mellnick is no more and reopens in its reincarnated form by the name of...Haute. Seriously. God. Okay, I mean really? Haute? As ridiculous as the name is and its given rehash of the tightly run velvet door on famous Robertson Blvd, this tiny little venue should provide a breath of stale air for those trendy night-life goers in the Weho district looking for a little lounge-oriented intimacy without the hassle of losing friends into a massive floor plan in duration of the night out. And given the manner in which they're selling itself with *that* name and its sparkly rhinestone encrusted logo, Haute should fit in with its fellow nightlife competitors easier than tan bronzer, blonde extensions, and stilettos go on its targeted clientele.

This place sucks for margaritas and food. I gave it two stars because I expect most people don't come to Lansdowne Street for quality drinks or food. You come here to party, hit on people or to be hit on. The ONLY reason I was here was because of the FNX Block Party. La Verdad was blocked and it just so happened that the patio at Tequila Rain was empty and about 50 ft from the stage. Go figure. Ate the nachos (which are coated in meat - they don't mention that and I'm a vegetarian) which were terrible and the spinach dip, which for some reason, tasted like fish. Not good fish, but that crappy fish taste that even fish doesn't taste like. The margaritas were bland and didn't have much booze in them. I didn't come here expecting anything - in fact - I didn't even expect to come here, but I DEFINITELY won't be coming back. Then again - I'm not exactly the crowd they market to. Ho hum. If you want decent Tex-Mex, a great margarita AND to get hit on/ hit on someone go to the Cactus Club on Boylston St. It's a much better version of this bar.
