I was on a quest to find a happy hour on a Sunday. On my search I found Bar Chi and I am glad I did. We walked into this swanking little restaurant and were seated quicklyat 7pm. All day happy hour on a Sunday is CRAZY! $1.50 Sushi, $4 to $4.50 rolls, $3 to $4.50 appetizers, and $1.50 Sake Bombs. I opted for Shrimp Crunch, Tempura veggies, Tempura Chicken Wings and a Kirin. My partner had a BarChi roll, Spicy Tuna roll, a Kirin and piece of Salmon sushi. Everything was very tasty. The only thing I didn't care for was the Tempura Chicken wings. My friend Tara D. told me later that tempura meat just seems soggy which is how I would describe it. So, great atmosphere, good service, amazing price at under $30 and we were stuffed.

Still one of the top spots in NYC for poetry. Some of my favorite poems come from various poets that have performed and later published their poetry (such as Pedro Pietri, co-founder of the Cafe) Take time to check this classic place out and vibe out. . .

Ok I used to be the GM of this joint for like 5 or 6 years a couple of years ago and when I go back they still treat me like I own the joint. Or maybe in my own mind I think they treat me that way. Nevertheless I found myself there while in town a couple of weeks ago. Now mind you it was my last stop after a ballgame and trips to Tommy's, R bar and Cantina so to say I was a bit inebriated is being kind. That being said I had a blast! My new lady friend from out of town was equally impressed. We drank, we danced, we galavanted and cavorted like sailors in a far off port. We even snuck up to the star on the roof when no one was looking. It is still the best view in town. The bar and wait staff (many of which I hired several years ago) were very kind to us and fed as many delicious cocktails. Now since it was Wed. night and Indulgence was in full swing the place was packed with lots of ladies in little attire. Kudos to you Sebastien for still packing them in after all these years. Kudos to both Harry and Michael Pagan (current GM) for keeping the place looking good after all these years. But especially Kudos to the staff for doing what you do! It was good to be home for one intoxicating evening.
