SO amazing! I've never even heard of this place and a good friend of mine invited me out last night. We missed the first half of the set from Realistic Orchestra but I'm sure it was as kick ass as the second. $7 cover, $2 beers awesome jazz amazing fun people great vibes and fun dancing. Of course I'm all about it. I can't say much about the food (I will update once I go back) but the bartenders are on top of it. I shared a shot of jameson and it was a mighty big shot. very generous. Thanks ;) To be perfectly honest I can't see anyone NOT having a good time here. Bring your girl, boy, roommates, classmates, that cutie in the cubicle next to you, people you work with- doesn't matter a good time will be had by all. Very excited to have found this awesome place :)

It's kind of beyond my comprehension that someone can write a review of a place they've never been, but hell, some people review people and some even review birds so I guess anything is possible. I've actually been to Luckie and it kind of blew me away when I walked in. Located across from the Georgia Aquarium, they do a good job in keeping that aquarium theme going throughout the place. The lighting schemes changed throughout the evening. When we went in, everything seemed to be lit in blue, changing through the ranges to green. By the time we left, that was happening with reds and oranges. There were interesting faucets in the bathroom which kept my sister-in-law and I, as well as another woman, entertained for about 15 minutes as we played with them. Behind the sushi bar there was a wall o' saltwater fish (I found that hysterically funny, or maybe it was the 3 glasses of wine before we got there). 3D landscape images played on flat screens that looked like they'd been created by a Dungeons and Dragons playing sci-fi dork in a crappy 3D computer program. We were with a group of about 30 and they actually had one table big enough to seat the whole group. It was in front of the sushi bar, so I'm guessing that it might have been an "alternative" sushi bar? It had low stools for sitting and was actually pretty cool. What I don't understand about Luckie is what the hell is it? I kind of want to tell these people to pick a lane: restaurant? sushi bar? lounge? bar? What ARE you Luckie? The menu contains almost all standard American fare (burgers, pizza, sandwiches, steaks) and then? A sushi bar. It makes no sense. The food was good, nothing stellar. I can't vouch for the sushi though. The place didn't seem very busy on the night before 4th of July, but maybe it was the fact that everyone in Atlanta would be running the Peachtree the next morning (that didn't stop our group) or the fact that it was new, or the fact that the place is sofa king big that it will never seem full. Personally, being from Austin, I don't see how this place will survive much more than a couple of months. Concepts only seem to work when you nail them down. This just seems like a place that has a multiple personality disorder and needs to get checked into Bellevue for some help, fast. But then, I'm from Austin and I don't know these "big city" type places. I'm giving one extra star for the faucets in the bathroom. Those were totally bad-assed. Otherwise, I just don't "get" Luckie.

Ever want to go to a bar and be in a Tim Burton movie at the same time? That's what you get with Velvet Margarita. A very cool and (when I went anyway) low key joint with lots of abstract art on the walls, ceiling, ect. Add in the colors, looks like a scene out of The Corpse Bride, but I'm not complaining. It's a cool place none the less. A def check out if you've never been there before.
