by Gary Awyie on I came out for a private Halloween party, and I must say our hosts had impeccable taste. Despite its rundown exterior (the Little Pedros sign still illuminates the night sky), the interior is beatifully decorated in a swanky goth sort of way. Candle lighting and lush couches were set up in the private rooms for "important" peeps (not me) and blood red velvet curtains surrounded a small stage, where a live band rocked the night away. Bartenders were sizzling and drinks were decently priced, at $8 for Patron shots. I'd definitely come back again, even if it means I'd have to bust out The Robot costume-less.
by Lise L. on I feel like an old fart - I didnt have much fun at BootieSF last night. I REALLY liked the music that was playing when we first got there and started to have a great time, and it was fun being at the DNA again since I have spent some fun times there in my college days. But kids these days don't seem to know how to use a crowded dance floor. This one skank with awful cheap smelling hair kept slamming into us although she had plenty of room, and when asked to watch herself was just ridiculous. Anyway, silly bitches on the floor is really no big deal, and Im sure we would still have had fun but the band came on. I thought they had great personas, and a cool concept, but the fact is they just didnt sound good. The fun about mash ups is hearing multiple songs you know and getting a kick of how they are blended together. It doesnt work when the band waters down the songs so they sound all the same and not at all as you know them. So, we were bored. When you get up at 530 every morning, it is very dangerous for a night out to get bored at 11. So, we ended up not making it through the band to the next round of DJing which Im sure would have been a blast. So, Im an old fart, annoyed by the youngsters that have no respect, bands playing loud unrecognizable music and getting tired before things even really get underway. When did this happen?
