KoKo Cocktails has the best bartenders, most generous and interesting happy hour and best djs in the Tenderloin. Every night. It may get a little crowded in the evenings (as they have excellent cocktails made with fresh squeezed juice for only $7, a steal compared to most of the bars on Polk Street) but I never have to wait for a drink during happy hour and the bartenders are efficient and attentive no matter how busy it gets. There's not much more to say, I live down the street and rarely go anywhere else when I want a drink. I'm only sorry that it took me so long to finally step inside.

I came here for my 30th birthday on a Thursday night and had a blast. The food was great and just the right amount (I don't expect to gorge myself at dinner, so I don't really understand the reviews where there wasn't enough food). Everyone in my party was happy and we loved the show. Yes, you are paying for the show, and we had a blast. Drinks are very well made and cost $9 each. The place seemed perfectly sanitary to me, and again, the food was great. I highly recommend coming here with a group of six to eight people because of the size of the tables.

Went here for a couple drinks on my birthday last year and was fairly disappointed. Considering all the hype it gets plus the fact that it's in the movies, I thought it would be a little bit classier. Instead of classy ambiance, what you get at the Starlight Room is cheesy worn out 1920's brothel decor. While that does have some charm in itself, the interior literally looked like it hadn't been changed (or well kept) since the 20's, which really was more depressing than classy. The view is really not as fantastic as everyone says either- the windows are small and the building is far from being one of the taller ones on union square. Oh yeah, and the drinks are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced and small. If you're on union square, there's a ton of better places to go to than here in terms of atmosphere, drink quality and price, and view.
