Rub me down, mister! 111 Minna is my favorite place to be Wednesday nights. It's not like it's the cheapest happy hour, but it's by far the qoolest! (I kind of hate myself for writing that, but I'm gonna go with it).
by Mariette Trinca on I've been to the Aquarium three times, once for an amazing private party in the ballroom with access to all the exibits. Once with my parents, and another time with friends. Which do you think was the best experience?--hint the catering was done by in house Wolgang Puck Events and it was amazing. Although is it irony or even bad karma to consume seafood at an aquarium? The facility itself is impressive and a welcome addition to our city. Call me jaded or a bit spoiled, but I don't really get blown away by it all. I love the grace of the Belugas, and the Whale Sharks are truly miracles under water. I just don't feel overly jazzed to run back to the Aquarium. The crowds are way overwhelming to the point where the Fire Marshall should be called to shut things down. I litterally had to step over small children to walk in a straight line through the exibits. I feel like the whole thing is so incredibly over hyped, and in reality what does an Aquarium have to do with land locked Atlanta? I know, I know I'm being a brat.
by Ivana I. on That Kid Named Miles has a fantastic (Thursday night) weekly here that's dance energy fun fun fun loaded w/ rare grooves, prehistoric blues, and old-school rap/hip-hop. The Root Down. For those Burning Man kids out there, you may be familiar with one of the playa's greatest dance camps, PLUG 4 (Miles' creation founded on the old 45's of soul). I highly recommend this place.
