by Tiffany M. on Kinda a weird concept- Cafe during the day & lounge at night. I can't really imagine hanging here in the middle of the day. Reading in a clubby-lounge setting just isn't my cup of tea, but hey, maybe I'll give it a shot sometime especially since Derek R. says it's quiet. BUT, come nightfall, you can find me and my BFF here on an occasional Friday knockin' back a few & chattin' w/ one of our favorite bartenders, JUSTIN. This guy is nothin' but awesome. He's fun to talk to, serves up some sweet n' strong drinks, and is great at keeping tabs on us. As far as the rest of the staff goes, the other bartender we chatted w/ was cool and the doorman was entertaining to talk w/. The only bad apple outta the bunch was one of the barbacks who I hate to admit, is really good looking and seems to know it. He was all snob & seemed like he was too good to get us water. But hey, we don't mind much since we now know to simply bypass him and go straight through our favorite, Justin. Sugar Lounge did a fairly good job w/ making the place look uber trendy- cool fireplace, suede seating, colorful walls, cozy back room for private parties, and even an upstairs dance floor which I have yet to check out. The pink lighting is a little cheesy and I'm not sure how I feel about the outdoor movie screens, but overall it's pretty nice & clean. The high ceilings work well for the place and the giant sliding glass mirror that stores their liquor, is pretty darn cool. Lovely spot to chill at, if you're into this kinda atmosphere.
