by Trang N. on I must say the Le Viet decor is stellar! The restaurant boasts a cool and modern feel, with minimalistic accessories. It had a very nightclub-esque/bar feel to it, I'm sure this will be a nice spot to go on a Saturday night, the bar area is very roomy and could accomodate a lot of patrons. My mom and I can here tonight, to see what Craig La Ban's fuss was about and I have a pretty critical palette when it comes to Vietnamese food. The place setting was sleek and non traditional, which I can't believe I never thought of it! I ordered the bun, It was nicely presented and the portion was huge! The flavor however, was a bit bland and I had to ask for some sriracha sauce to get the extra umph! Usually, all Viet restaurants have a bunch of condiments to individualize the dish, and being 'minimalistic' I guess they decided to do away with this. Also, we were the only Vietnamese in there so I guess they watered down the flavor a bit. The prices are par for what I expect it to be, so add the decor- you get an added little bonus. The service is probably one of the best, and well organized places I've seen in town. All in all, the food that I had was ok, I can't speak for the rest of the menu, this is definately a place that I would take my friends to ween the leery into this wonderful cuisine and for the ambience. I would try it again, I know what to ask to spice up my dish if it happens to be bland. One complaint, and it's really random, there was an annoying BEEP every 20 minutes of so, it sounded like the smoke detector battery needed to be changed OR a home security system on the fritz! Very bizarre. It's a very nice addition to the Viet Washington strip. I might throw a couple more stars their way in the future for it has a lot of potential!
by duane m. on To be honest, I am totally going middle of the road here, because, um, I can't remember what the food tastes like; I have only been there once when I wasn't drunk, and while I know that what I got was okay, it was only like french fries. The other times I have gone there, I have gotten full course meals it seems (according to my receipts), and I honestly don't remember a thing about what I ate. Perhaps it was good? I mean, at 3 in the morning, anything is, right? One cool thing about this place, is that I have met several cool people there, and even shared a booth with a few; it is less about the food, and more about the sobering up and experiencing something new. If you have never been, get drunk and go!
by Mertie Madise on Pretty unimpressive SOMA dance club. A bland main room is wrapped by a second floor balcony and bar. Another equally nondescript small room is hidden upstairs. I was here for a monthly OM Records event and it was disappointing. The "celeb" dj, Kaskade didn't come on until 1:30 and he was just as boring as the opener (and I'm actually a big Kaskade fan - check out his tracks on iTunes).
