This place has it goin'. Now for anybody who knows that this particular foodie happens to think Miss Ann's Snack Shop serves up the best burger in America, you might be surprised that I loved this experience. Chalk it up to sensory overload - Flip has it all. Been watching the Blais blaze his way across the Atlanta food scene, cut a swath down to Florida then go national - and if he can find a way to light somewhere (without extinguishing his bright flame,) he'll burn a hole so deep in the food consciousness of Atlanta that they'll be writing about him in the 22nd Century. I believe he's that good. Flip is fun. It's eccentric. Oh, I guess to really experience it you need to order a couple of burgers, but they're just the orgasm - it's all the foreplay that's exciting. From the room design to the cute staff (I counted 21 of them during lunch - they outnumbered the guests - a payroll that could choke a horse!) this is a place to visit once just for the heck of it then revisit for the culinary experience. And there is one. Just read all these great rateclubsers, and you'll find something to suit your tastes. The Nutella shake with bruleed marshmallows is a keeper. Recommended.

I can't hate this place because it is both where my friends and I invented "Extreme Shuffleboard" and where I passed Chuck D. walking in the door during SXSW, so it will always have some cool points in my book. It's probably not the first place I would pick to hang out on the weekend, but when I do come out here, I end up having a pretty good time. It's unpretentious and relaxed. Definitely better than most college bars on 6th. I wouldn't go here for the food and you have to be careful that you don't waste a lot of time when playing pool, because it can add up pretty quickly. Anyway, if you are interested in playing some "Extreme Shuffleboard" I believe there must be whiskey, sliding the pucks as hard as you can, and the loser doing shots for each of the winners points. It's all a blur to me though . . .

I had the chance to check out Vessel last night, they open officially in about a month. Already, without the finishing touches, the place clean, sleek and modern. It seems certain that come February, this will surely be the the spot to be, well, spotted in, for urban denizens in the know. The sound system, while impressive, takes second-stage to the stylish tables and booths - designed for maximum lounging and people viewing - all basked in a soft and sexy lighting. The two-seater sofas by the bar will definitely be coveted as well by couples and soon-to-be ones. Of course, a killer crowd will make or break a place like this; time will tell, but first impressions are very promising. Note: One of my favorite bartenders and all-time people Tanya is working over here, look out for her!
