Took the whole fam out for top quality sushi at a great price on Fun Sunday, which is all-day happy hour. The atmosphere is excessively modern and datey, with booming base music, water-fountain walls and an ever-changing colorful constellation of sexy LEDs embedded into the runways between the tables. Our two children, while well behaved, stuck out as glaring reminders that break the great dating spell that the ambiance was trying to achieve. Nevertheless, the staff made us feel comfortable. The sushi was second in our experience only to OYSY in Chicago. Try the volcano roll. The seaweed salad and Saki were also remarkably good. Vegetable tempura was mediocre.

I took my friend there for her going away dinner-its one of her favorite places and I had always wanted to try Zahav as she always raves about the food there. She was absolutely right. The food here was amaaaazinnnng! We ordered the lamb shank meal (which you have to reserve in advance and we actually got the last one). It was a 5 course meal. The hummus here is great. The salad samplers are also really good. After that came, the sliced watermelon with BBQed parsley-which was probably one of the most amazing things I had that night. The fried cauliflower was also great. The lamb was well cooked and was nice and tender. That and the rice it was served with were both delicious. It was actually more than enough for our party of 4 and we ended up taking home left overs. We also sampled a couple of the desserts, which were great also. The service here was great, as the wait staff always came by to check up on us, recommend some great wines, or to clear our plates. It was a great dining experience here at Zahav, although I probably can't afford to go here for a long long long time.

I've been to the Santa Monica location multiple times, but it really became pretty crappy over the past 2 years, including the clientele. Also, I never loved paying $10 after 9pm to get in there as a girl, and they were actually pretty strict and snobby about it even with their recent decline in clientele quality. So, after I heard that Busby's opened where the Conga Room used to be, my friends and I decided to check it out since it's a 3-minute drive from my house (big plus). Basically, the place looks exactly the same as the Conga Room used to, except they put a bunch of flat screens on the walls. The major plus was not having to pay a cover. I think they're still trying to make this place popular, so if you're a cute girl, you can flirt your way in. We did without problems and at midnight on a Friday night. The first thing I noticed is that the crowd is actually attractive, which is not currently the case for their Santa Monica location. The bartenders are all attractive as well and I didn't have any problems getting a drink quickly. I inquired about the $20 minimum and the bartender told me that it doesn't matter if I don't reach it by the end of the night as long as I leave my card open, as they are basically trying to avoid running the same cards several times per night (you can judge how true this is for yourself, but I didn't have any issues). The drinks are priced same as everywhere and especially good for a place without a cover (at least for me ;) ), $7 for mixed drinks, $10 if it's high end vodka or Red Bull. The downsides are the music and the actual space. The DJ switches songs every 20 seconds, which I personally hate. And though the dancefloor is spacious, the other rooms are too bright and the layout is not conducive to meeting people. 3 solid stars for this place for location, attractive clientele and bartenders, super easy FREE parking anywhere on Wilshire Blvd, and enough space to dance compared to the SM location. If I have to pay $10 in the future to get in though, it may not seem as attractive.
