First of all MOST of the bouncers there are terrible and will not let you in no matter who you are, what you look like or what time it is. I felt like they got some pleasure watching us all freeze in line for hours on end. And we got there before the club even opened to wait in line and still had to wait a good hour before getting let in.... Once inside I had a great time, drinks were strong and easily accessible, there were plenty of places to stash my coat too so I avoided the $4 coat check fee! I also went to their sister club, venue, which was much easier to get into but I got heavily searched and they confiscated everything -including my tampons, from my coat pockets!!! Venue was smaller but had a bigger dance floor (and was much more diverse). I am newly 21 and exploring my club options in Boston, these wouldn't be first on my list to go back too, but there not last either...

Not only are they hard to eat, but they are overly buttery and not all that flavorful. The double stack from wendy's is tastier every time...
by Devon B. on Eh. That's what I think of the Avalon. I used to come here to dance when it was the Palace and it pretty much sucked back then too. As far as a concert venue, it's ok. I wouldn't even think of parking in the lot or buying drinks here, since it's LA and I expect to be ripped off. I saw Spoon here last week. I was on the guest list so I can't complain about the price of tickets. The will call/ guest list line however, was longer than the ticket line so we ended up waiting anyway. The sound was just *a little* too loud. If it had been just a touch quieter I wouldn't have wished I had brought earplugs to enjoy it. And one more thing about the Avalon, and clubs in general: we don't need a bathroom monitor to hand us paper towels after we wash our hands! If I one day am in desperate need of a stick of gum or hairspray then I'll get some, but don't force me to get my towels from someone who expects a tip for holding it out to me and telling me when the next stall is available. This is probably the worst and most degrading job known to man. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now.
