by Michael E. on I've been to Morimoto a few times now and even though its a Stevie Starr restaurant, I have to admit I really enjoy going here. For dinner, we enjoyed Fugu, the deadly blowfish, as an appetizer. It was delicious and there not too many places around where you can get it. That was followed up with some delicious refreshing sushi. Then on to dessert, an ode to Elvis, banana icecream, peanutbutter and bacon sandwich. The staff was extremely friend and unpretentious. The decor is very tasteful and evokes a nautical feeling without feeling like a theme restaurant. One thing to be aware of is the omnipresence of phallic center pieces on all the tables. I'm not sure why, but I think someone is a little fixated. Go, enjoy, eat what ever they suggest. You will not be disappointed.
by ericalynn g. on The secret here is that there's better "asian fusion" food elsewhere in the city. There really is. But I urge you to visit Pod, for the ambiance alone. It's like nowhere you've ever been before. If you are lucky, you will get there at a time where you can actually sit in one of the pods. I will only say this about the pods: you can choose your own lighting, and there's 8 different colors to choose from... one of them being the most ridiculous orangey-pink ever. And it makes your food look completely different. I'm telling you, it's a scene. And even though there *is* better food out there, that does not mean that Pod doesn't come through. It does, and then some. It's *great* food. Just not *the best*. But you need to experience Pod. Also, Pod is extremely accommodating. I had a party of 15 that soon turned into a party of 25 for New Years Eve a few years ago. We didn't even make a reservation. We all just kind of sauntered in, with the expectation that we'd probably be turned away (we just had to try.) Not only did Pod accommodate us, but they handled our big crowd beautifully and we were tended to in a professional, friendly manner. On New Years Eve! Props to Pod. Good work.
by Tracie Lafaso on The space is awesome but the only nights I like it here are on Thursdays for the GBH parties. It attracts an eclectic young crowd, is free if you RSVP at http://gbh.tv, they play good music, and there's plenty of room to move around. Downside? Expensive drinks but that can be solved with some pre-gaming.
