by Denise H. on Go for the sushi! I haven't tried a roll that I didn't like! Also, I found myself at Strip late one Saturday night. It was a bit clubbish at the top level but not in a bad way. Might be a good club alternative but I didn't stay long enough to make a conclusive decision on that one.
by Michelle T. on We went to Hollywood Men for a bachelorette party. I usually go into any business with an open mind but I was disappointed with this place. The show was supposed to be 90-minutes long but it started late and ended early. We go to pay for tickets and the lady in charge couldn't even count money. What a shame. Yes, the performers all had nice rock-hard bodies but they're performances were all out of sync and it seemed like they were just half-assing their dances. I know the whole point is to get girls screaming and all but it just didn't do anything for me. I wasn't expecting like Academy Award performances but at least come down and interact with the audience more!! My friend had bought raffle tickets before and she won. And she chose to get a group picture with all of the Hollywood men. The photo session was so disorganized. Luckily, we were one of the first groups to go up. And then, the MC/photographer was like "who the heck are you?" And we're like..."Dude, we won the raffle and the other guy told us to come here." So unprofessional!. I was with great company so we had a good time. The only other thing is that we had a really friend half-naked bartender serving us and he was more than happy to take pictures with us with no insulting questions/comments! It wasn't packed at all on Friday. Perhaps it was the Friday before a long weekend and/or the economy is just really really bad. In fact, there were a couple empty tables. Or maybe folks already know it is an overrated show and didn't want to come back. But being able to stay after for the dancing part made up for it!
by Blaine Chavira on Live in San Francisco. Visit NYC every few months or so. Went back to Cielo on a Monday this week (first time back since last summer). Monday. Dead day in SF. Not in NYC. Seriously. I am sad to say that Monday nights in NYC are probably better than Friday/Saturday nights in SF. I am growing more depressed as I write this......and then I remember how beautiful the weather is back in SF, and how the un-$%^*ing believable chill from NYC still has my bones shivering, and I'm OK again. Sound system is good. DJ was disappointing. Kept laying solid beats, than bringing things down to a very slow level. Poor transitions. A bit awkward. The dance floor was packed, however. This place was a good time last summer, and it's still appears to be a good place to hit up. At least on a Monday.....
