If you have love for ART and MUSIC....plus, sippin' on some good cocktails while mingling with a diverse crowd, then you've gone to the right place. This is one of my favorite spots to hit up in the city. Best times are Wednesdays for Qool and Fridays for Lookout Weekend. If you aren't feeling the type of music...you can always groove to some elemental hip-hop, funk, and jazz after 9pm on Fridays (same day as Lookout Weekend). They have a cover charge, depending on what night you plan to attend. There's always a change of schedule when they book people, so it's best to check out their website for more info. Wednesdays, 5pm-6pm (QOOL NIGHT EVENT) $5 cover charge after 6pm (Free before 6pm) Thursdays, 9pm-2am (every 3rd Thursdays) BASS CAMP (electronic music) $15 at the door $10 presale Fridays, 4pm-9pm (LOOK OUT WEEKEND) $3 before 6pm ($5 after) HIP HOP, ELECTRO, DISCO SLAPS, FUNK Free food $5 beer with a shot of Jameson or Fernet Branca $5 top-shelf cocktails

I went to Cat Club on a Thursday night and had a great time. The crowd is a bit older (I'm 21) but everyone is incredibly friendly and not in a creepy way which is always a plus. Added bonus is that there are two rooms with separate DJs, so if you don't like the song that's on, you can switch back and forth. The cage was also tons of fun to dance in! Its kind of like one big sing-a-long dance party... and the DJ was really good about requests. I'd definitely recommend getting there in time for the $1 well drinks. Only other thing that prevented a five is I woke up the next morning... dirty?? Literally I had black smudges all over my feet and arms... hmmm...

Pool League season started again.  I play for the Hole in the Wall, South of Market at 8th and Folsom.  Our team name is (a little embarassing)---the Howlers.  Obnoxiously, we howl like dogs after every game we win.  Our first game of the season was at the Cinch, up at Clay and Polk. When it comes to pool bars, the Cinch is the place.  The staff is friendly and the jukebox has a good variety of music.  There are two pool tables in the back, and they are level and true.  The wall behind the tables is covered with Pool League Plaques and trophies, collected over the aeons by the Cinch's winning teams---their players usually demonstrate extreme skill, and I almost always leave there in tears after a match. But not this time!!!  We got to belt out a glass-shattering howl eight out of sixteen games, and go home with a firm but equal tie.  As hosts, the Cinch Pack (one of their four or five teams) are gentlemen through and through, even taking our awful howling in stride.  Thanks for a fun night, Cinch Pack!!
