Imma fist-bump like dem Guidos in J-Shore...(thump thump thump) We went here during NYE and I have to say that Kress was actually a pretty decent club. Prices were $45/person for no-open bar and access to 3 floors. It was pretty darn easy to get drinks for free since our friends had the open bar option ($125) and they just got us drinks when we asked. BALLLLIN' Gotta say though, didn't really like the idea of having to wait for an elevator to go to each floor. And when you get to an elevator you gotta cramp it up like sardines in a can to get to the floor you want. Each floor has a bar area and the dance floor with couches laid out for the VIP folks. Each floor also has different music playing which I really enjoyed. The basement was going nuts with hip-hop -- sweet lighting effects and a pretty awesome decorated bar. The 3rd floor had house music for pure fist bumpin' action. The 2nd floor had some mix of R&B and hip/hop as well. Maybe this place is worth it only on NYE but I would come back to Kress -- only if I can get access to all floors for a decent price.

Shampoo has a lot of potential - it's usually filthy though, whether that's the clientele or lack of maintenance staff, I'm not sure. Almost every time I'm there (no matter who is throwing the party) a fight breaks out or someone gets hit on the head by a bottle. It's huge for a Philly nightclub, with disco balls, and several levels, and rooms usually with different kinds of music playing, and I've never gotten any grief from the bouncers there. Street parking is tough if there's a big event (but if you park far enough you should be good) - you can also park in a nearby lot for $10 a pop usually. To get in, cover is cash-only I believe (never tried paying with a credit card) and the bars take credit cards.
