I went to XIV with a club i'm a part of. We got a tour and selection of appetizers. Most of the apps were good but not great, when it came to the skirt steak and pickled vegetables though I was starting to see the light. Their Kobe beef carpaccio was interesting and delicious. When it came to desert it was a home run, there root beer float was totally amazing and the nutella custard with passion fruit cream was my favorite, I ate a whole one by myself even after the 15+ apps we tried. The decor is wonderful and unusual, you feel like you're in someones library, with the fireplaces lining the walls and the leather couches. I was truely an experience eating a XIV

The Cinch rocks my face. There was some hairy-faced girl outside who complimented my jacket as soon as I got in line, and she was sporting some awesome corduroy herself so I consider her very authoritative (anywhere where someone compliments me gets automatic five stars). No cover and beers were reasonably priced. The drag show was OUTSTANDING and lived up to my friend's description as "the trashiest drag show you will ever see." I go to Bootie a lot, so that's saying something. Tons of Dolly Parton, some Morrissey, a senior citizen who supposedly "had a heart attack on stage" the last time she was performing, and one girl who just stood there and put on make-up in a tweaked-out fashion for thirty seconds. Also the DJs were making out during the show. I will most definitely return. It might even surpass Truck in terms of giving my out-of-town friends a quintessential San Francisco gay gay gay experience.

If you want a deal dive bar (and I mean that in the best way), this is the place for you. An ENORMOUS lager can be had for a couple of buck's. I'd steer clear of the food though. If you're hungry eat at Wawa first.
