After an art show at the seventy seven gallery and a day committed to being together, my guy and I decided to dine at the Show Room. We had been here once before, after a bike crash right outside of the door was witnessed by a kind employee who gave me bandaids and scotch. We were greeted by a friendly face again and only had to wait a few minutes as a table was cleared. Being Saturday, we had no idea what to expect, but the place was packed. It felt cozy, perhaps a bit too warm, but very welcoming. We would never have guessed we were on the East side of Austin once we stepped inside, commenting how it felt so much like a place in San Francisco. We ordered Oban, a great summertime scotch, though with their wide selection and knowledgeable staff we could not have gone wrong. Their menu was impressive and appetizing, making it hard to decided. We wanted the Bison Carpaccio, but after learning they were out we took our second choice, the Antelope Tartare. It was absolutely amazing. The greens were delightful, the fries perfectly cooked. And then the antelope! Unlike anything I have ever had before. Perfectly seasoned, not gamey at all. We could have eaten that all night. But then our entrees arrived and we moved on to Steak and Frites and the Lamb & Goat Burger. The steak was huge, almost too large, with the same delicious fries from the appetizer. Covered in butter, it was delicious and well-cooked the closer to the center of the cut we got. The burger was delicious, slightly difficult to eat, though the fried egg I opted for might have had something to do with that... It was juicy and meaty, seasoned well and topped with chevre. The side of pureed squash was award-winning. We could have made it an entire evening at the Show Room, finishing off our meal with one of their perfectly crafted cocktails, but we had to get going. We will definitely be returning, as this place made us feel like we were on a first date again. That feeling, and the scotch and food nap that followed were well worth it.

This place is awesome! It's a bowling place and lounge. It's comfy and you can play pool/billiards while you wait for a bowling lane. I went for an Event Planners event and the drinks and hors d'oeuvres/appetizers were tasty and flowing. I had a great time and I plan to return soon! The only minus is that it's all the way on the far west side. I think they offer a special on Mondays.

I was going to go here for my birthday because they were one of the few places that would take reservations but because of the parking situation decided to go elsewhere. I've been to The Golden Temple three times now and I am most impressed with their crab Rangoon. The meals are a bit heavy but portions are huge. We were disappointed that there was not any plum wine or Chinese drinks. They get two thumbs up for using free range chicken and everyone who I've taken here has loved it. As for me it's good, but not one of my favorite places and I'd give it 3.5 but that isn't an option.
