I really have no good excuse for waiting this long to review bOb. Maybe it's because I'm so inebriated by fun that I just can't get it together the next day. bOb is awesome. I've gone to my share of lounges, dives, clubs, and dance spots in this fabulous city and bOb is always where I wish I'd gone instead. The music is ALWAYS good--old and new hip hop, reggae and dancehall, and some R&B mixed in. Crowd is diverse in race, sexual orientation, age, and style and they're all happy. Drinks from the adorable bartenders are reasonably priced and hit the spot. I LOVE bOb and THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT. They only lose a star for being so damn cool that they're always packed to the damn brim. Owner tells me they're opening a new spot in Williamsburg...

The food: Burgers were... burgers (and VERY over priced- $15 for a plain ol' jack in the box burger)... meat with cheese, nothing more- IN n Out is better. Fries were good, except the weird spicy sauce ("aioli") - i couldnt figure out if it was butter or mayo it just had such a weird consistancy.. The ambiance: i didnt like the ambiance of this place... it looks exactly like a small hole in the wall club- black everything, walls floors etc. with a dj booth and small dance floor. Wed. night DJ sucked, but i wasnt really expecting anything anyway. It feels weird to be eating here, like it should be more of a lounge or club than restaurant.. maybe it'd be ok if you had a drink at the bar... if your in the area... and there is no where else to go... Bottom line: Wouldn't go back unless I lived within walking distance, and even then probably not since i can pay $3 for the same burger at Jack in the Box

Updated 7/3/07 Sugar now serves yummy brunch choices from 10am-2pm on Sundays. A must try: the cream-cheese/marmalade stuffed french toast with REAL maple syrup! Totally amazing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Fantastic cocktails and snacks! This is a great place to chill with friends after a night of dancing at the Cellar next door, or just to get great panini's and coffee for lunch. All the desserts and food are made on-site. The brownies are to die for! A must have when you are looking for a chocolate pick-me up! The decor is mod with an amazing glass fireplace, turquoise and brown theme and cushy chairs in the back. It's a brand new establishment, so everything is pristine!
