by Leelu D. on Ok, i love and hate Webster Hall, I've been here a couple of times for concerts and parties with DJ's, but I hate it when it gets ridiculously boring beyond words. WARNING: Ladies Night is a sausage fest and not the kind that's hot. The guys that go to ladies night are as lame as the bottom of the food chain is concern. They are not the kind of guys you'll want to get hit on. I love geek guys but jeez fashion wouldn't hurt. They come in packs like an hour early before it opens and the hotties are no where and if they are it's a waste to even wait for any to show up. The music was horrible and no one danced. it was way too dark and way too loud. 4 floors is such a lie, the bouncers won't let you up stairs until it's late. My friend and I left less then 20 minutes of arriving and went to the Cubbyhole. If you want a ladies night and see hot people or people you can talk too with out yelling, or people who are nicer...go there or anywhere other than WH! I love the concerts tho, as a venue it is huge. But i'm never going to Ladies Night again, total turn off.
by Olisa A. on I came here with colleagues. We were in town for the night for business and Harry Denton's was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. When we came in the host did not give us a friendly welcome whatsoever. I was trying to ask him if an area near the bar we were interested in sitting was open for self-seating, but he basically cut me off and said he would seat us in another area. So, I had to ask him again and he finally told us that we couldn't sit there. All the while, no smile and very unwelcoming as if we were annoying him with our presence. We asked him if food was still being served and he said yes. We were seated and given one menu for three people. The waitress, however, was a breath of fresh air--friendly and welcoming. She took our drink orders while we were looked over the menu. It took us a couple minutes to figure out what we wanted because nothing especially popped out. Finally, we made a decision and got the waitress's attention and let her know we wanted to order food. She told us the kitchen was closed!! Of course, we were quite surprised because we had been told otherwise by the grumpy host. We asked if there was anything we could be served--bread and butter so we wouldn't be drinking on an empty stomach??? After all, the kitchen would had to have just closed in the 10 minutes or so from when we came in to when we tried to order. She said she would go an check and let us know. A while later she happened to come by our table and we had to remind her that she was supposed to be checking with the kitchen for us and she confirmed that there was nothing they could serve us and said that she would bring us the check and hurried off. My colleagues and I looked at each other a bit confused, because we never indicated that we wanted the check, but we were like, whatever--we're not having another round anyway. When guests are seated right before the kitchen closes, any good server would ask them if they wanted to put in an order before the kitchen closes. I don't know why she didn't bother asking us. Meanwhile, the waitress was back and forth and never brought us the check. Finally, we asked her about it and she brought it to us. I was thinking perhaps she realized the she had prematurely offered the check to us and changed her mind about bringing it--then again, she could have just forgotten about it. I must admit, she was overextended--she seemed to be taking care of the entire lounge until another waitress came on not long before we left. So, she had about 7 tables. The drink was good, so no complaints there. The decor was hideous. The upholstery desperately needs to be redone. It is worn and tattered. The crowd was a random mix. The DJ was great! Hip hop and top 40s. The view is really nice. Only because of the view, I would say that it isn't terrible if you just want a drink and a great view and you know what you're getting yourself into.
by Andy Storniolo on Cielo is every bit as good as the other reviewers said it is. We waited in line for about ten minutes. We (two guys and two girls) got in with no problem but the people behind us (three guys, four girls) were told they needed to get a table, which was weird. Anyway, it is by far my new favorite club. The music itself was amazing, as was the sound system. Bartenders were prompt and courteous. The crowd is certainly different from that of the 27th St. clubs; there's more emphasis on dancing and having fun than on getting wasted and laid. We were there for like three hours. I can't wait to go back.
