So I live in the area so of course I'm going to have a slight bias in liking Mayes because it is sooo close to my house. However being a SF native, I've been to a bunch of different clubs, lounges, and bars in SF and still think Mayes is a good place to hang out. If you want to dance but not be in an annoying teeny bopper club this is a nice place to go. It is definitely bigger and classier than its neighbor vertigo which is fun too but I'd say Mayes is a bit funner and has a nicer ambiance. Downsides: --Poorly ventilated so if you like to dance you're going to need to step out for a couple of air breaks as I did. It gets hot and bit funky in there! --There is a cover but to compensate they actually give you a drink token so it really evens its self out.

Out of all the bars in k-town, this is probably the best you can get. The waitresses are really on their game, and I love how busy and crowded it gets on the weekends! I really love the techno"ish" music they play, so that makes me happy as well! A night has never failed when my friends and I are at third floor! The only negative I would have about this place is that it's ultra super expensive. But hey, it's NY right? ^^;

A decent place to spend the evening. It's really large, 2 stories high with a really large upstairs. Since the whole place is never fully packed, the extra large top floor makes it easy to be able to get away from the sweaty, crowded areas. The crowd is intereting and its definitely the type of place to leave you waiting outside to make people think it's crowded and then when you get inside, no one is there! Also, the $20 cover isn't really worth it...especially since the night we can it was full of trashy people...not the $20 crowd if you know what I mean! Nevertheless though, i've always had fun, no matter how annoying it is waiting outside in the cold with homeless people harassing you. I guess that's the only thing that matters when you go out!
