Temple's good. Finally a real club in the city that resembles the clubs of LA and Vegas. As I said, Temple's good, it has potential, but I'm not sure if San Francisco is ready for it. You see, I'm from a clubbing background. I started clubbing in SoCal and Vegas. When I returned to SF, I realized this is more a bar city. People hit the bars and lounges. They like to drink and mingle. Sure, people like clubbing, but not the way they do it elsewhere. I've been desperately trying to find a place similar to the clubs of Vegas and such, and finally Temple's here. But the crowd could be better. I'm sure in time it'll get better. People will get use to it, hopefully. For now, most of the hardcore clubbers are the asian kiddies (no offense, I'm asian myself. but i'm not too used to this "azn" scene) As for the facilities. Two thumbs up. There's the main room upstairs. It's big. It's airy. There's space for people to dance and mingle without having to hit each other left and right. Our bartender was bomb. Every shot was the size of a double shot. Then there are two more rooms downstairs. One is more of a lounge area with couches and tables. The other one is another dance floor. This one darker, for better or worse. I have to say though, that the security was not up to par the night I was there. An acquaintance (a girl) was punched in the face by another at the end of the night and lost a tooth. First, the security wasn't there to immediately stop it. Second, once they caught the girl that punched her, they let her slip away as soon as they got her outside to wait for the police. Seriously now.....a girl, getting away from a bouncer who's already got a grip on you, and then not stopping her in time while she gets in a cab and gets away??! Not good.

My Marquee experience has been limited to 3 media parties, so I have no idea what it is like on a typical evening. It's nice, but I'm not overly impressed. It does not strike me as worth the hype and strict door policy. The coat check is impossible to get to because they leave only a narrow 10 foot hallway to approach the two coat check people, leading to long lines and pushing. The main room has a few booths arranged in an open square shape. There is a bar along the right wall and smaller bar areas in the back and upstairs. These spots seem great for private parties. The music is pretty lame and the decor is fun, but nothing unusual. The place reminds me of PM, but with a more awkward layout.
