I've only been to Star Bar a couple of times (sorry, I'm not a music genius) on Monday nights for their comedy open mike. When I first went, there were about 20 people in the audience (not including the comics). When I went last Monday, there were about 60 people in the audience. Looks like open mike at Star Bar is blowing up! I've been served by two bartenders who were equally cool although I do kind of favor the one with the big curly afro (sue me, I like big curly afros, especially on white guys). On these nights, I haven't been drinking alcohol and sometimes a bartender will diss you when you're not drinking beer or liquor but these guys didn't do that (but I did tip them as if I'd gotten an alcoholic beverage - service is service). Parking is plentiful and free on Monday nights (other nights someone will harass you for money, especially on the weekends). As of this writing there is no cover for the Monday open mike. The only downside is the smoke. I don't smoke, but it seemed like everyone else in the building did. I left about an hour and a half and felt like I'd probably sacrificed a third of a lung in there. In summary, it's a good vibe and a good intimate venue for comedy, so check it out!

I have to give Flip five stars because that's what it is, a five star burger place. Hype or no, this place was great! I had requested a trip over there on my next visit to Atlanta, and when we went I was NOT disappointed. We were pretty early (6 pm) so no wait...and wanted to enjoy a little cocktail before ordering, our server didn't rush us or try to flip the table at any time. We started with some fried pickles and onion rings to soak up the alcohol. The pickles were "eh" maybe not my style as they were fried in a tempura batter rather than my preference of cornmeal, but the onion rings were killer! And the honey beer sauce served with them...mmmm..... I had the tuna burger (delicious with pickled ginger) and decided to try the butternut squash tempura for my side, OMG, dusted in mole powder and served with a truffled mayo, lord I am still thinking about that! One of my companions ordered the philly burger, it comes out looking like it has a giant dollop of butter on top, which is actually cheez whiz. All was demolished, to say the least. Which I would put as a mark of a good burger restaurant. Why do I want to worry about the size of the burger? Is bigger better? Not in my book! Prices are very reasonable and just because you won't leave rolling out or covered in grease doesn't mean you didn't get a good burger. OOOOOOO....almost forgot.....the krispy kreme milkshake....we actually saw the KK delivery man bringing in the donuts while we were sitting there.....had to have one....worth every sip!
