I *really* wanted to be able to justify a glowing review for Ruby. But the thing is, although the house is all about the music, the people in it are not. I guess people go to big clubs for a lot of reasons, but when I go dancing I go for the music. I don't think that was the case for the vast majority of the other party goers, whose agendas varied from loitering on the dancefloor, to fighting with one another, to showing off their attractive significant other, to flashing bling near the bar just to be seen. Kaskade, however, gets my many thanks for a great spin!

This night club primary targets the Asian audience as it's decor are paper lanterns, Asian writing. Disappointedly there is no bamboo as it is embedded everywhere in the Asian lifestyle. There are gymnasts on cloth ropes in the middle of the dance floor. Lounge seats and small coffee tables surround the dance floor, which makes it small, as it is not completely open. Water is from the fountain/tap, which luckily is free to patrons. I came here on a Saturday night, which was absolute madness but not completely packed, as I was able to move about. The male patrons who attends Hiro are rather stupid yet persistant as they will dance randomly with women when they clearly see you dancing with a man already. There was a Caucasian man who did not fit in the scene of an Asian night club, who randomly bumped into me in order to purposely dance with him which I threw him a rude scowl of a look from head to toe. Afterwards, this Caucasian dude would not dare to come near me again seeing me happily dance with two women and one man. Definitely get your hands stamped as it allows you re-admittance later should you decide for fresh air. A Saturday night does not feel very Asian to me, as there are many non-Asian patrons. The music is very hip-hop, Reggae, R&B, and house mix, which entertains the audience all through the night without any dead spots. Disappointedly there is no Asian music to make it an authentic Asian night club. Entrance fee is a ridiculous $25.00 per person. Hiro Ballroom is a lot easier for admission especially for men as you will not be waiting an eternity of two long haul hours in the bitter cold.

OK - this place was empty last night. and I have no idea why. I was told it was pretty happening! But seriously, what the heck happened? I love the interiors - very circa Kill Bill fight scene. Altho I'm not sure why there is a Chinese lion head in a Japanese place - that was the only thing that seemed off. Well that, and along with like less than 10 people on the dance floor. Also, the DJ was dj-ing from a Mac laptop - what is up with that? This is the 2nd place I've gone to - where this has happened. Odd. Perhaps I'm spoilt or something... DJ equipment can be expensive. Also, we got kicked out @ 2:30am. WTF. And as we were leaving, I was exclaiming how early this placed closed - the bouncer mentioned that it's only today and its usually NEVER like this. He promised to hook us up if we came back on Saturday... That smelt like desperation to me.
