by Darnell Doroski on Gorgeous lobby, tiny room (but I booked Priceline - that's what I get), amazing location (great for a jaunt up to LA from SD for a Hollywood Bowl concert, and superclose to Griffith Park), and attentive staff. Total scene, though -- which makes for great people-watching (think wannabe industry execs and waifish chicks who don't eat but apparently have great surgeons). Oh yeah, and a drunk guy tried to get in our room at 6 am and the linen closet across from our room deffo smelled like mj. All part of the Hollywood experience! If you don't want to cough up for valet, self-park in the garage across the street. I'd definitely come back for the location, amazing pool, and restaurants/bar.
by Ching C. on Kress is a money-sucking-unethical-unorganized club. You'd think that Kress is ONE club right? That my lime green "Kress" wrist band can get me from point A to point B within the building? So sad, so wrong. Apparently, each floor has a separate promoter--simplification: You must pay a separate fee to get into each floor. Not only do you pay, you have to stand in line each time you want to try a different floor. Our group was on "guestlist" until 10:30pm where guys get in for $10 and girls get in for free. Supposedly, after 10:30pm, guys and girls both have to pay $10 each. We arrived in line at 10:30pm but didn't get up the stairs until 11pm. When we got to the cashier's, the two ladies told us that she was charging $30 per guy and x-amount for girls. Then they decided that she would do us a "favor" and let me and one other girl in for free, gee thanks. Got a mixed for $10 and a shot for $12-- we were on the 3rd floor and the only smoking area was the go back down stairs to a little roped off area. When we went back down, we discovered that we went on the wrong level for a friend's bday. The 3rd floor promotor told us that once we leave the roped area, we couldn't come back. We left anyway since the bday girl was in the basement of the club. Four of us got left behind and couldn't get in with the rest of the group. My bf and I had gotten separated in different groups but he ended up coming back up from the basement to look for me. He was promised by the bouncer that he could get back in with me, but when we tried to get back into the basement, he bouncer said he didn't know what my bf was talking about! Staff was rude, not to mention the patrons I met there were also disgusting and hollered at whatever they think they can get. Lots of guys going stag and staring at everyone as people are just minding their own business, trying to get to the restrooms.
