by Raf C. on Top Flr has consistently been one of my favorite places to drop by. The late hours are a plus, and a welcome occassional splurge for late night munchies. And it is indeed a server's server type of environment with generally good music playing and servers who are low-key but always helpful. Probably not in the budget to go after every night of late fun - but certainly beats the only having the Majestic, Zesto, or McDonalds ( all ofwhich I love to some degree but its nice to have a slighlty higher bar of eating for late nites every now and again). Must haves: Hangar Steak, Savory Sweet Potatoes, Chorizo Pizza, and a mixed drink called the "Pimmps Cup": Yes its spelled that way...and NO Little John does not bring you a blinged out Goblet and scream "Yeeeeaaaahhhh!")

We sent to see the Rubinoos (Berkeley natives and the most rocking bubblegum band of all time) and Jonathan Richman, another important figure from my misspent youth. Anyhow, the place was everything a SF venue should be: elegant, high ceilings, victorian flourishes, and a mix of old f***s like me and beautiful young bay area scruffies coming out to adore Jonathan. I was STARVING and it took a while to get a waituress. You have to eat upstairs, where the viewing sucks unless you secure a spot right on the Balcony, but the food was not too overpriced, and the drinks pretty much on par with every other overpriced bar in SF. And there was a menorah over the stage. Happy F-ing Hannukah! I want to play there so bad. Please call all your favorite venues and tell then to you want to see the Claudia Russell Experience!
