by Melissa T. on My friends and I came here to celebrate my birthday and I was impressed. This place is huge. We came hella early so we made guestlist. We chilled at the bar on the main floor while they were clearing up the dinner guests. Their drinks are good. I didn't have any mixed drinks so I don't really know how good those were. The music is pretty tight. I love how there are like 3 rooms with different music. Nice variety for sure. The crowd is varied which is nice too. But warning, this place opens later than most. Until 4am, which is totally fine but then you loose track of time and by the end, if you find that your girls are the only ones left, you will be attacked by the guys that are left. Sooo if that's what you like, by all means get it. But if you don't I would head out around 2. Just saying. P.S. Save $10 and park on the street. There is a lot of street parking. At least when we went.
by J J. on As a native New Yorker, The Park is certainly not my cup of tea for a drinking/party scene. I've been here several times and find that some enjoy it because of its décor, free admission, and space. I personally do not like the attitude that some of the bartenders have. I especially find that there is an inconsistency with admissions. On one night, my friend couldn't get in because the doorman claims he saw someone else with the same resemblance/name enter. Not only did he imply that Asians look alike, but he requested another form on ID other than a valid NYS-issued driver's license. My friend didn't have one, so I suggested showing him her Facebook account as a valid form of identification - he didn't think it was funny. We still got in after speaking with management. Crowd: Mix crowd (predominately Asian) Drinks: Standard drinks, but expensive. Music: Mix (mostly hip-hop), but terrible DJ Tips: 1. Have a good female to male ration. (For Men) 2. Don't dress to sloppy and no sneakers (For Men) 3. Bring more than one ID (if you're Asian)
by Kenya Picucci on A few of my favourite New York moments have been on/at The Frying Pan. Watching the Queen Mary go down the river, while the Forbes yacht goes up the river, against the Jersey skyline ...then a helicopter takes off from the deck of the Forbes yacht against the setting sun. The bartenders have never stinted on the gin in my adult beverages ... to the degree that 2 is usually more than enough. Decent food on the grill. The crowd's mmmmmm eclectic. Yeah, that's it, eclectic. The only downside - the bathrooms - a little tricky to get to/into if anyone in your crowd has any mobility limitations, and not exactly sparkling clean.
