Let me start off by saying, I hate the marina, and I love the mission. Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to take a Marina bar, and put it in the mission? They actually charge a cover at the door, not to get into any where special, just to get in the freakin front door. The drinks are about 100% more expensive than any other bar in the mission, and the manhattan was terrible (way too much sweet vermouth), couldn't even taste the rye whiskey. The music wasn't great, but the company I was with made the place fun. All-in-all, if I have a group of friends that want to go out in the mission again, I have to suggest another place.

I had a fun time, but for one reason or another it wasn't a biblically fun and exciting experience that I can rave about. So sad, but I did have a lot of fun, and some choice memories... I do remember having a good time and snapping a few pictures as a crowd formed to see the drunkest guy and a girl violently make out for an hour on the dance floor. I was also able to look back and revel in our own insobriety seeing my friend tucking in his dress shirt into his boxers in pictures the next day.. Both of these events still bring a smile to my face, and hopefully they will for you as well when I upload the pictures.

Here's one of those velvet rope clubs on Sunset. Ug. Blvd3 fits the Euro-club mold well. Lots of attractive, young people drinking and such. I swear I even saw Linday Lohan whisk by at one point. We hit the bar near the dance floor and paid a mere $37 (or maybe it was $27) for two drinks. Sweet. The place is quite large and very nice. The DJ was (somewhat clumsily) spinning a mix of old and new tracks, but the energy on the dance floor never really reached the level it seemed like it could have. The confetti cannons added a 'New Year's Eve' feel to the scene. Outside the main hall, things were decidely more mellow. They have cabanas and a fireplace surrounded by a fountain where people can cool their heels. It seems like they've got all the components for a rockin' club here. Still, the Social next door seemed much busier. Maybe it's the sense of exclusivity Blvd3 is trying to cultivate. It's been a few years since I spent much time in clubs like this and looking around the room I don't think I'm really their target clientele at this point in my life. Still, it didn't seem quite as cheesy as I expected.

Good place to garb some drinks for the start of the evening. The dance floor can really get going later on in the evening. And watch out for the drinks... they can be a little more stiff that you are used to.
