I've been here more times than I would like to admit but generally during happy hour or to see a specific cover band. If its a regular night and you don't know the band playing even bother stopping here. $11 for a pitcher of American beer, give me a break. On multiple occasions I have encountered a bitchy bartender. The crowd also seems a lot trashier on my more recent visits than ever before. I also do not need a bathroom attendant.

This place is rad. Let me give you the breakdown. We showed up before 9:30. This means no cover and well drinks for $3. Lots of places to sit, even for a group of 5. It's like going to a bar that plays great music. The mood is so chill, people aren't dressed pretentiously, and everyone is just doing their own thing. Around 10:00 the club started picking up, with more people strolling in and more people dancing. The DJ started playing the music he intended people to dance to, so we got up and danced. It was great. He played some A-Ha, some Michael Jackson, some Depeche Mode, and everything in between. Even the boy, who "doesn't like to dance" was insisting that we stay for a few more songs because, as luck would have it, as we were leaving, they played a bunch of his favorite songs as we tried to walk out the door. We left at around 11:30, right as the better dressed, fancier people started walking in. And we were in bed with enough time to sleep to be alert for work. I will come back!

Rating: i am jacking up the stars because it blows my mind that an absolute pisshole like the highlands can get 4 stars over boulevard 3's 3 &1/2. That said, I'm generally a peaceable, fun-loving girl who enjoys amiable company and classy venues--which is why me+boulevard 3=fan-freaking-tastic times. It has a gorgeous outdoor pool (with a fireplace!) and luscious cabana areas (why luscious? because every time I see the chaises lounges I just want to throw myself onto one and sink into its lap of luxury). Oh, and they're not roped off for VIP, so you can actually SIT once in a while (what an innovation). The inside is designed like the interior of someone's plush mansion, with 2 "sitting rooms" and a "great hall" (check out their website photos--you'll know what I mean). Hot people and bartenders. Cool music (not spectacular, but it does get people grooving). Strong drinks (try ordering from the bar outside). Trapeze artists (some nights). Never that crowded. It can be a great place to dance for a bit, lounge, or even chat (by the relatively quieter poolside). So if your idea of fun is grinding up against a bunch of sweaty backs, you're out of luck. p.s parking lot right around the corner behind building is ten bucks (way cheaper than most 15-20 lots). i recommend guest listing via their website, under "reservations" for free cover (before 11, i think).
