I went last night (Friday) for the "long awaited" Grand Opening party. We went a little early so we were able to get a seat at the bar and leisurely enjoy a few of their signature cocktails before the crowd hit. I actually really like the venue - definitely digged the art and portraits on the wall. The vibe was sultry, but not too swanky. I personally didn't feel like it was too preppy or stuffy (as someone else said in another review). I thought the crowd was pretty diverse and was a good mix. A little bit of an older crowd compared to the surrounding bars/lounges (mid 20s+), which I prefer. The music was great - a mix of some top 40, old school hip hop/r&b and even some random alternative mashups which was nice break. As more people came in and the night went on, the bartenders were a little slow but I do understand that it was only their first night and I'm sure they're working out a few kinks. Cocktails were decently priced - signature drinks were $10/pop, wells were around $6-$8, not sure how much beers were though. Oh, and they don't charge any cover (not sure how long that's going to last though). I think it's pretty awesome considering Temple down the street (which is LAME as hell) charges $25/head. You may want to be a little cautious though because as time goes on and more people discover the lounge and that it's free, I could definitely see it attracting the more ghetto East Bay folks (no offense)... All in all, I definitely want to make my way back there. Maybe next time for happy hour so I can compare it to their sister bar, John Colins.

Okay, okay. It's a little fratty. And I'm not much into the frat scene. But this bar is legitimately fun. It's loud, it's divey, but it's a good time. And c'mon, who doesn't love a good game of beer pong?
