by Jennifer N. on When I first arrived at Flip Burger Boutique the place is jam packed even though it is pouring rain. There is a long bar along one side with pretty white bar stools that is first come first serve. Hopping up on the bar stool, I can't help but notice the giant picture of the General Lee on the wall. There is music pumping and my friend insists they must turn the place into a club at night. I see a lot of really yummy sounding burgers on the menu but I have been trying to compare beef burgers so I will wait for my next visit to try the Thai chicken burger or the special burger of the month. I went with the all American bacon & cheese which is Benton's bacon, american cheese, pickled onion, lettuce, marinated tomato, sweet pickles, ketchup, flip sauce. The presentation was gorgeous, almost like a work of art. The first thing I did was take a nibble of the bun and, to the horror of the other diners around me, scrape everything off the bun & eat it with my fork & knife. The burger was quite small but tasty and it was one of the few medium burgers I have ever ordered that was actually pink. I wouldn't order it again but I would definitely try one of the other fancier burger options.

If you love to drink and play all kinds of games, this bar has you covered. The cavernous layout is true, but upstairs is much smaller and a little nicer. Watch out for the big bar downstairs. The planks of wood are not flush, and yes, I sloshed a little beer while trying to slide a drink along the bar. Minus one star. They have plenty of pool tables, but we were there for the random games. Big Buck Hunter. Pinball. Air Hockey. Did I mention the shuffleboard? But, we came for the wii, so here's the review: you get to play on a 42-inch flatscreen wall-mounted TV, on wood floors, with three or four leather seats and couches in a semi-circle around the TV area. They don't have the matching controller for playing boxing (or maybe you have to ask for it?), but wii bowling is totally worth trying. Plus, you'll get to see your friends do hilarious miming, dancing, and pouting. And the best part? It's free, as long as you open a tab with your card upstairs. And that, honestly, was pretty awesome.
by Edwin Jespersen on I guess this place could be called a dive. The reason I hesitate is because of its location. All of the bars down on Bleeker Street make me nervous because the large amount of NYU'ers and other such college-types. It's a rowdy area, but not in a good way. I like bars that have free snacks, especially when you can throw stuff on the floor! I give this place 2 stars for peanuts and 1 for peanut shells on the floor! Someone else writing a review on the Back Fence said it best, with so many options in Manhattan, I probably will never venture back here and it was kind of a random occurrence that I did the first time.
