Can I give this 0 stars! I am amazed how awful this musical was. I must assume that those who wrote positive reviews have never been to a broadway play/musical. When the evening began the band was on the stage playing music. There was an indication of a great night to come. That hope died not to long after. There was a lot of boot shaking. At-times it did not appear to be african dance - it appeared as gratuitous body girations. I think writers and directors thought sex was a replacement for a plot and story line. I have no ideal what Fela was fighting or why the authorities came after him and his group. There is a solom moment in the play where text flashes on a screen describing what atrocities occured to each member of his troup.

I have never been to the buddha bar in Paris and I have been a huge fan of their lounge music ever since I discovered Karunesh and trance music in Goa. Budhha Bar was everything I hoped it would be. You have to either look like a movie star to get in or be on a guest list or make reservations. By midnight ppl are auctioning for tables to get in and the going rate starts at a 1000 $. The food looks so Chi Chi and sounds exotic but tastes like any normal above average restaurant.... Their drinks all sound exotic but don't do any wonders to your taste bud... but despite all of that, I had a great evening, was pleasantly drunk, caught up with all my old friends and enjoyed all the eye candy.. It was a not so tasking evening for my cole haan too...I did not have to stand in a line to get in ...good to move up the ladder once in a while....

judging by other reviews, there may be some crappy nights with the same trendy hipsters you can find anywhere in the mission, but not the first night i was there. great crowd, fair drink prices $2 PBRs, killer sound system for the space, and food? i didn't have any, but the option is nice. the party had a nice, gritty, friendly SF underground electronic-music scene feel to it. people were approachable, smiley, totally digging the music, and the music was great. danced my arse off before i had to leave for another party. really wanted to stay for the rest of the night. next night i go will be a wednesday for a green gorilla party.
