by Stephanie D. on LIIIIIKE it. Though the Mezzanine is in that seedy long stretch of alley it earns its stars. This spot is spacious & has free reign of both up & downstairs, has 3 bars, "bartender recognition" for all you lushes who know what i mean, & surprisingly pleasant bouncers. Mezzanine is the perfect spot to throw a big shindig considering the layout. I've always missed events here to much regret but randomly decided to come here last year for Halloween to see Talib Kweli DJing. T'was truly an interesting site to see once the scantily clad Freddy Krugger/80's chicks/strawberry chicks & FRIENDS hopping on the stage. Eventually the stage was swarming with all the monsters making it less about the music & more so like Lukes freakshow!! While the bouncers started to intervene, Talib convinced the bouncers to let the monsters stay on stage the whole time he was spinning. After a while seeing the stage goers lowered the experience a little bit, as I didn't pay to see Bay gIrLZ gone wild. Ended the night early, but won't be the last time I'll see Talib...just not spinning though. :P All in all though, great venue, a party grounds to mingle. I'd come back here for certain events & shows.
by Michael B. on This place reminds me of something in San Francisco. It's definitely worth the trip over there. I went on a Tuesday night at around 7 pm. It was full, but certainly not overcrowded. I'm guessing it gets too crowded at peak times. Had a couple of delicious Ommegang Witte beers (about $6 each). Didn't try the food, but it looks like they have a reasonably priced selection.
by Rashad Meinerding on I actually love DNA lounge but after last night they lose some stars. The will call line was at a standstill while they let in new paying people instead of ensuring prepaid people get into the club ASAP. The line was ridiculously long as well. Not cool at all. They had 2 of 4 toilets out of service in the womens bathroom, causing really long lines.There was also a line for the mens bathroom, which was a first. The toilets are like these steel things without seats like what you would see in a jail cell. The womens bathroom is always a flooded disgusting mess. Hard to pee without wanting to throw up. Ok last but not least I love the fact that DNA puts the audio webcasts live on the web for 2 weeks. Remedy is the best party going. So glad it didn't last long at Ruby Skye!
