by rachel m. on Well, I love velvet paintings, tufted banquettes, red lighting and mexican food, but this place fell pretty short otherwise. My favorite part was the 3 tiered salsa and chips. I've never seen any other restaurant serve spicy bean dip in addition to salsa. Good job! But the rest of the food was extremely mediocre. I made the mistake of ordering mole. Yuk. It was barely edible. I really wanted to send it back, but it was my friends bday and I didn't want to make things weird. Beans and rice were acceptable. What really bothered me was that our server took a table of about 20 people BEFORE he brought us our check. I think we were waiting for about 20 minutes. Grr! He did apologize, but he could've done something else, like given us a free dessert or something. This kind of place just reminds me of why I hate hollywood. 15 bucks for something I could've gotten for 5 in another part of town, and would've been better!
by Ellamae Degan on Another crazy night out! Every single time I've been to Club Dragon things have turned ugly. Ugly as in: crazy drunken madness ugly. I went again last week with my bf and a friend, wearing suits and ties since we were coming from a wedding reception. If you've ever been to Club Dragon, you know how out of place we looked there. Sure enough, a few minutes after we walked in, some Asian dude asked us why were dressed like "such pussy boys"... not sure what that means, nor whether it was a compliment or an insult. Or was it some sort of pick-up line? The crowd at Club Dragon is so sleazy it's not even funny. There is so much grinding on the upstairs dance floor people might as well just start having sex. The crowd is mostly Asian and Latino, along with the white boys who like them... so it's unclear to me exactly what my bf and I were doing there. I had a lot of fun nonetheless (alcohol helping)... and, no big surprise, ended up dirty dancing with girls. The first one, as I found out after the fact, was a man. The second one, who was a real girl, offered, I quote, to "show me hers if I showed her mine"... I'm not even making this up! She did show me her boobs in the end, so I felt compelled to show her my chest, after which she swooned into my arms as any normal human being would under such circumstances... If you have a small bladder you're in trouble... huge lines for the bathroom all night long.
by miz m. on This place is fun, but you can run up quite a bill--it runs on the expensive side. The crowd is full of NYU students, hipsters ironically bowling, and bridge and tunnelers. A more affordable alternative would be the bowling alley at Chelsea Piers, and the crowd is a bit more mixed.
