by Kelly P. on i would have a difficult time trying to find something negative to say about this place, hence the 5. i was spoiled with the lamb tasting menu. each course has it's own unique offerings as far as texture taste and visual display. the hummus was delicious, the pickled cucumbers and the eggplant were especially good, and the lamb was absurdly tender and tasty. i thought i was doing a good job pacing myself but clearly as evidenced by my take away boxes, i had overindulged in the hummus and first small plates. noteworthy that our server offered to box things up as we went along and was very pleasant overall. did not catch her name but a diner like me does appreciate her informative chit chat about the chef's decisions for the evening. i was lucky enough to be here on a night that the chef prepared the oxtail soup prepared with turmeric and black pepper. Absolutely wonderful. also had the sheep's milk cheese and enjoyed it more than i would have guessed (i'm picky about my cheeses).
by Kristin B. on "See and be seen" is not my scene. Given that, it might seem rather obscene that I had a really great time at Opera on a recent night out. However, my experience was probably a little atypical, given that: 1. We got free entry thanks to a well-connected friend and the fact that it was his birthday. 2. I didn't have to buy any drinks, thanks to the generosity aforementioned birthday boy. 3. We got there a little after 11pm and it wasn't crowded at all. 4. I was protected from all skeezy men thanks to our big group. If I could guarantee a repeat occurrence of all four of these factors, I could see going to Opera again in the future and would give it four stars. It is truly a beautiful atmosphere and has been stunningly redone. However, since I recognize that my first experience is unlikely to be repeated, I'll dock one star and say "thanks for the memories."
