It kinda freaked me out cuz it is in a basement and I'm sure there were no earthquake building regulations when it was built. Service was kinda bad. I mean snotty, no boobed, pale hipster waitress, her attitude did not impress me. I had a great time with the people I was with, but yeah the crowd, um I dunno, how do I put this delicately or not at all. I am 5'7 I wore 3 in heels, and was literally taller than EVERYONE in there. So I guess not the glitterati super model crowd if you're picking up with I'm putting down. I was having such a great time with girls I was with, that I cant really comment on the music. Very loungy short on actual DJ-ing. Ive heard better loungy sets, just sayin... Charcuterie plate was goood!
by Shaun J. on I was not expecting much from this bar. I have always thought of Prague and Gruv as being on in the same. I was completely wrong. Prague has nice decor both inside and out (Beautiful girls working the door was an added bonus). The stripper pole which was previously mentioned is great. Not only is it fun to watch the ladies operate the pole, but you could look around and see guys had their eye on it as well. I am NEVER going to be a stripper, so I gave it a whirl myself. As for the bartenders they are very prompt, drinks were reasonably priced, and the patrons were very attractive and seemed personable. Will definitely go back to Prague on a night out in downtown Austin.
by Lurlene Lebeau on Hiro is perfect from 1am-on, IN THE WINTER and RAIN. Dude, I know, I know, i'm gonna hear it for this - but you've got bungalow's up-top man, bungalows! Markedly easier getting in then the rest of Chelsea hotspots (hmmmm...), Hiro is no doubt one of the best designed clubs in the city, not gonna argue with you. Yes, you will find some yummy eye candy - you might even get to hang out with that guy from that show, u know, from back when...what was it called? shoot! and it was just on vh1's "this is what was hot waaaay back in the day" whatever, i'm not a hater. I like the decor, friends with a couple of the bartenders, and maritime is an all time fav...Just disappears from my periphery when the weather is nice...
