by Sonja S. on Came to visit 330 Ritch because some friends were out here partying. I always tell myself give new places a shot - otherwise you don't know what you are missing... Well since I am the kind of person who goes out because of the music/ DJ and not the whole club hooking up, well I should just stick to my game plan: Check DJ schedule, then make a decision where to go. My bad, I went without checking on a Saturday night! Anyways, place gets a star for seating options and a star for having space to move around. Music is your typical whatever is popular stuff and that's about it. Lots of grinding and lots of hooking up. If that's the mission of your night - you found the right place!
by Martin S. on They have good wine and good cheese, but I have had not so good, not horribly offensive service three out of the four times I've been here. Some people love this place, but it's really not that good. It's not terribly awful, but unless you sit at the bar, the service has poor execution. The people who work here seem completely oblivious to their customers. If going to a restaurant is like going to an art gallery, this place is a Thomas Kinkade gallery - uninspired, not really good, but it doesn't really offend most people. If my friends want to go here again, I will go, but it's not the kind of place where you're like, "OMG! Vinoteca is AWESOME!" It's more like, "Oh, let's go to that Vinoteca place. It's close by and it's near home, it's okay, and I don't feel like dancing and then getting dry-humped by a stranger and coming home with other people's sweat on me tonight." I've seen hair longer than shoulder length being worn down by employees, waiters spilling water without acknowledging or apologizing for clumsiness (clumsiness is fine! Pretending you are perfect is bad for your mental health and makes you look socially inept), and servers/expo/whomever bringing food out at weird times, such as extra, unrequested crackers when everybody was already done eating the cheese. Most people wouldn't care, but service snobs like me might notice it. Overall, it makes the establishment "Meh" instead of "OMG AWESOME!!!!" If someone wants to go here and you have to, I don't think you would get food poisoning, but seriously...why bother? It's not like cutting up cheese and popping a cork is that hard, and the food from their kitchen is only so-so. It's good for a night cap, but it's a strange mix of neighborhood bar/snobby French wannabe staff/good wine and cheese/poorly cooked food.
by Darrel Sualevai on It helps if you know show tunes. Or Mariah Carey. Or Elton John. But show tunes are most helpful. It helps you like drinks served in martini glasses. (I went for Manhattan's) It helps if you can sing, the more flamboyant the better. It helps if you're gay. ... but all that isn't necessary. This place can be a hell of a lot of fun if you're ready for it. Just be ready please. Be ready for it all. Be ready to sing, even if you're not ready to get behind the mic.
