King King is totally my scene. This dark, small, yet intimate "Underground Feeling" venue makes me want to go up to Hollywood each weekend. They have their own parking lot, which is $20 to park in. I have to give their website props for listing other parking options around the area. You can find parking as low as $8. Since King King allows Ins and Outs, parking in their lot has lots of advantages. I'm sure you can figure out many different things you can do in your car. The guest list before 10PM that night was $5. And $5 did make me holler for 5 hours. You always can't get into places free, but I have no problems with such good and low priced guest lists. Like many places in LA, King King is open till 4 AM. King King from the outside is a two story brick building. Inside is small and looks like a warehouse. They have a coat check up front. There are several booths to kick it, on the left. To the right, there are two bars, side by side with pretty nice looking female bartenders. They were model like. Slender and tall. About 6 foot with heels on. Drinks were pretty reasonable for a club. Don't know quite the break down, but I bought a round of 3 Kamikaze shots and 2 Newcastles for $34. The crowd was pretty chill like most House crowds are. Plus, I thought it was nice that the place was not packed. There were about 100 people there and plenty of room for you to dance without giving someone the People's Elbow. When nature called, I was not afraid to go to the bathroom. The Men's bathroom was pretty clean. And lastly, I should talk about what brought me out to King King. It was Fairmont. AKA Jake Fairley. I've been watching his youtube videos for the last week and because of this small venue, I was able to get within 3 feet of him during his set. I started to laugh at myself when I said to myself, "His DJ Mannerisms are just like the videos." I have a respect for good DJs, because it is truly an art. I guess that is why I have grown to love Electronic Dance Music so much. They have the best DJs in the world. Pull up DJ Mags top 100 DJs and the list might surprise some of you. I come out to see DJs perform and entertain me with good beats and unique mixes. And Fairmont truly accomplished this that Friday night.

Took my dad here for Father's Day and he was in heaven. Being the Jazz afficianado he is, this place was fabulous. We got there early and got great seats. Two drink min but it wasn't too pricey. This is a great place to see some of the biggest names in jazz and frankly, I don't think I'd go anywhere else to get my fix.

I live around the corner, so the hop-skip-jump ease of heading over on a sunny Sunday for one of Cocomo's legendary three-day-weekend partays can't be beat. Inside, the sound system is booming, the drinks free-flowing and the outdoor grill transplants Cocomo from Dogpatch to a Carribean locale easily. Still want to go over for salsa lessons, but in the meantime I'm happy with the boomp boomp boomp of SF's best house DJs.
